Level 5 is the highest drywall finish. After the normal taping and coats, the entire surface gets a skim coat so the paper and the mud look the same under paint. It's the right choice for walls lit by big windows or wall-washer lights, and for glossy or dark paint, where any joint or ridge would show.
Curved walls, stepped tray and coffered ceilings, and tall open rooms take more time and more skill to get right. After more than 20 years, this is the work we like best.
